BIRD BOX (2018)

This movie was a bit out of the box for me because I usually lean towards the chick flicks and comedies, but because Sandra Bullock was here,  I had to see what the fuss was about. The concept was quite interesting, I mean, wanting to die because you saw something which was like your fears or insecurities or inner demons. It was so creepy. I don't know if the fact that they did not show the demon was more scary or less scary than actually seeing what it was. The fact that there were some people unaffected by these things makes me wonder about some of the mentally disturbed people we have living among us. What I also don't get is how she got to 5 years. Like if you wanted the kids in the movie, they could have just been born already. It was quite a happy-sad ending. It's actually kind of scary to think about life in such a way, where you are living a normal life and then something just comes and takes it all away from you. Also, some of the suicides were a bit grueso...

To All the Boys I've Loved Before (2018)

It's a RomCom... a guy who this girl crushed on once upon a time sort of helps her get her confidence up and he eventually starts liking her. Who didn't see that coming? Nice movie though, if you like Sappy RomComs that make you just want to go "Awwwww." There's no real elaboration here because that would just give away the plot. Why would you put addresses on them though. Quite risky.

LADY-LIKE (2018)

Basically a pass-time kind of movie. No real story line and some relatable moments for women. It's a pretty average movie, I guess and you need the right vibe to watch it. It was just a movie showing how a friend can desert you once she has a boyfriend. Which I don't think actually happens. Then again, I wouldn't really know.  It also points out that everyone needs to have something in life to focus on. Be it a best friend or a boyfriend, you cannot let your life revolve around a person. The girl was lazy and unambitious and only till she got her life together, did she stop being so needy. Good lesson in a way.

KAABIL (2017)

This movie was sad. The story actually evoked emotions in me , because raping a blind girl and basically trying to harm a blind couple, who are just trying to make the best of life, for no good reason just annoyed me. I felt bad for the characters, although Bollywood will take you away from what feels real really quickly when they want to add the "Unbelievable"; like when he took his revenge and he was a really high-functioning blind guy. It all seems impossible, even though the bad guys deserved whatever came to them. I wish that justice was served so easily in the world, the way Hritik Roshan served it in this movie. Another movie where the cops only wake up when it suits them. Still sad to see that some people are so unnecessary and pick on people who they think are supposedly weaker, until BHAM, they show you that you should have just kept to yourself! Good watch.

SIMMBA (2018)

So, I hardly get time to watch Bollywood; so this was the first movie I watched in the cinema in a long time. I actually went for the song"Aankh Marey"; but the sound was bad at the movie theater so that was depressing. Anyway, the movie itself was not bad. It shows that the cops or basically any person in power, can just abuse it. You think that these are the people that are going to help you out of trouble but they are the main reason for it. Anyway, the corrupt cop has an Epiphany when someone close to him becomes a victim to this corrupt police work and so of course, dramatically (because Bollywood); he makes sure to get her justice. The idea and social issues addressed make the movie worth the watch. The songs were bomb, although random and , "Slow motion" (again, Bollywood). I generally like Ranveer Singh and now Sara Ali Khan and her amazing personality got me obsessed for a while, even though she had a small part. It was  great watch. If you can put up ...

OBSESSED (2009)

This movie was interesting. It basically boils down to, if you hide something, even small, from your partner and it escalates quickly, you're screwed. Especially, if the person who is messing with you, is ahead of you and psycho. It was kind of predictable, the fact that Beyonce and the woman after her husband were going to come face to face in the end. It makes me wonder though, if women like Lisa actually exist, because that's creepy. Imagine someone believes or rather actually tries to make you believe that something happened even though it didn't. Though, putting Beyonce in a movie, already shows you that there was not going to be much effort  in the plot because you have a star to carry the whole movie. I mean, c'mon, you knew we were all going to watch and wait for Beyonce's big part. Which was saved for last of course.

In lawfully yours (2016)

The story line of this movie was quite cute and sad at the same time. They could have carried it out a little differently in my opinion. Like of course Chelsey Crisp (Jesse) was probably meant to take over the whole movie because of her personality. I mean she made me get through the movie because she was so hilarious whenever she rambled or said inappropriate things which would obviously tick off  people who have small-town mentality. I just felt that it may have been more emotional, if that's what they wanted it to be, if the sister played a bigger part before she died or the brother and his past were more in the movie. This was just ultimately, at the point where the daughter-in-law and son-in-law fall in love with a short back story on why their partners are no longer in the picture. Marilu Henner played the kind mother in law, which was refreshing. Makes me wonder how her son turned out to be such an idiot. The only thing that was a little unbelievable is that I ...

BEFORE WE GO (2014)

Now I personally have a soft spot for Chris Evans because Hubba Hubba, so knowing he directed this movie was quite impressive. I like the idea of a love story developing over night. Especially because late nights and early mornings are where you sort of divulge your deepest, darkest secrets and there's just something about being out all night, that makes it feel so adventurous. However, the story behind the two of them took really long to unfold and it wasn't really like a "big secret" that needed to much time to be said. Some of the facts were quite interesting. Like I did not know about the graffiti behind hotel paintings. Now I need to start looking behind paintings  to see if people actually do that. It was a good watch:if you are a hopeless romantic, love watching love stories play out and have the patience for it. I know I do. Plus, the actors sort of get you through it, because, I mean, who doesn't want to see Chris Evans for 90 minutes straight just ...

GONE GIRL (2014)

So this movie was interesting... I loved the acting and the twists. There was no telling what was going to happen next. It was a little unpredictable. Rosamund Pike played her role really well. Ben Affleck also played his part perfectly. The fact that Neil Patrick Harris was casted for the small role he had was unnecessary because of his stardom and him being known for other roles. The role could have been given to an unknown because there was no real attachment to his character even though he was so well known. Usually people who are well-known are casted to already create an attachment to them because you already like them. It was a little on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of movie that moved at a decent pace. I just found the ending a little rushed and for obvious reasons, not tied up well enough. I get that they wanted the ending to be so "wow" but it didn't really do that. Hard to believe that people like that actually exist in the world like Amy. Your view?
